Your Los Angeles Chargers’ search for their new head coach continues apace, and the team has been casting a wide net. They are doing their due diligence, but their top target remains Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh is the current coach at the University of Michigan, but it feels like he is ready to jump back into the NFL coaching ranks. After leading the Wolverines to a championship this past season, Harbaugh is being courted by the NFL.

One ESPN NFL Insider is skeptical that he will stay at Michigan, meaning he will head to the league.

"ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Tuesday's episode of SportsCenter that while Michigan will push to retain Harbaugh with a new contract, it appears to be unlikely that he will continue his tenure with the Wolverines."

Per Doric Sam of Bleacher Report

Assuming Harbaugh does leave Michigan, the Chargers make a lot of sense for him. He would get the chance to work with star quarterback Justin Herbert and have the resources of working for a team in Los Angeles.

This is the type of move that the Chargers desperately need. They have struggled to fully be embraced in the city of Los Angeles since they arrived, and bringing in Harbaugh would create new energy around the team.

The Bolts met with Harbaugh recently, but no deal has come to fruition yet. However, the interest between both sides seems real.

"The Chargers meeting as far as I've heard went well," Fowler said. "They formally interviewed yesterday. The Chargers have not really been shy about their interest in [Harbaugh], it is real, it's legitimate. I believe Harbaugh has a mutual interest as well. The chance with that quarterback, Justin Herbert, to make something happen."

Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN

Landing Harbaugh would be a game-changer for the Chargers and one that they need. The hope is that ownership can do enough to bring the head coach to the city of angels.
